This update focuses on more reliable launching, better offline support, and easier recovery when something goes wrong.
- Improved offline play: Launch installed Minecraft versions in singleplayer when your internet connection or Microsoft/Mojang sign-in services are unavailable.
- Automatic file repair: The launcher checks required game files and repairs missing or corrupted downloadable files before starting. Failed downloads are retried and checked before replacing existing files.
- Clearer error messages: Installation problems now explain common causes, including full disks, permission issues, and unavailable downloads, with options to retry and view details.
- Better account handling: Saved Microsoft accounts are tried before interactive sign-in. Accounts without authentication are clearly labelled (no-auth).
- Safer settings: Profile and account settings use backup files for recovery. Cancelling profile edits correctly discards unsaved changes.
- Smoother startup and logging: News and update checks run in the background. Game logs remain readable, and their size is limited to reduce memory use.
- Improved multiple-instance handling: Shared-file changes are coordinated, and native files are retained per Minecraft version. Closing the launcher lets Minecraft keep running.
- Missing Java recovery: If your selected Java executable is missing, you can choose another executable or use the launcher-managed runtime.
Offline play requires the necessary game files and Java runtime to already be installed. Downloading or repairing missing files still requires an internet connection.
